About the Department:

The CEHD Office of Student and Academic Affairs (SAA) enriches the student experience by collaborating with campus and community partners to help students grow as individuals, scholars, and professionals. The SAA Student Success Team strives to foster an inclusive and supportive environment where every CEHD student is valued, empowered, and equipped to achieve their academic and personal goals. We advocate for the success of CEHD students from orientation to graduation by providing academic support, opportunities for student engagement, and resources to promote retention, belonging, and overall well-being.

About the Position:

The Student Enrichment Coordinator, reporting to the Assistant Dean for Student Success, is responsible for providing, creating, and supporting an inclusive and diverse CEHD student experience. This occurs from initial enrollment to degree completion through educational, professional, social, cultural, and co-curricular opportunities that promote student development, foster student involvement and retention, and build affinity to CEHD.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, coordinate, execute, and assess a robust calendar of high quality educational, social, cultural, career, and well-being programs, activities, and events that focus on overall student development, sense of belonging, and career readiness, appealing to the diverse CEHD student population. Co-lead efforts for CEHD Undergraduate Orientation (in-person and virtual sessions) along with liaising with New Student and Family Programs (NSFP) and other campus or University partners such as Student Involvement, Graduate Student Life, University Career Services, Housing and Residence Life, and CEHD Academic Advisors to develop, coordinate, and promote activities and programs for CEHD students aligned with University initiatives and strategic goals.
  • Develop, plan, implement, and facilitate strategic initiatives and programs to improve the experience of students engaged in CEHD affiliated clubs and organizations, honor societies, and learning communities. Lead recruitment and selection of members of the CEHD Student Success Advisory Board, and facilitate monthly sessions with student leaders on Advisory Board to provide the SAA Student Success Team with insight into the CEHD student experience, while empowering members to lead initiatives in support of student well-being and success.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute large-scale CEHD student recognition and celebration ceremonies, including, but not limited to, CEHD Degree Celebration and CEHD Student Research Symposium. Liaise with University Events in support of University graduation ceremonies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including engagement with and representation on relevant CEHD and University committees aligned with the mission and vision of CEHD and SAA.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Experience with working independently and collaboratively, and coordinating several student programs and initiatives simultaneously in a fast-paced team environment;
  • Experience with delivering effective, timely, responsive and accurate communications to multiple stakeholders;
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality of sensitive records and personal information;
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new student information systems (Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, Banner, Salesforce, AirTable);
  • Broad knowledge of current trends in student and academic affairs, and issues within the field of higher education;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of event planning, logistics, and coordination;
  • Familiarity with FERPA guidelines and best practices regarding student confidentiality;
  • Demonstrated verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills; and
  • Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in related field;
  • Prior experience working in a student/academic affairs office or an educational setting (K-12, higher education), providing direct services focused on student engagement, well-being, and success;
  • Experience with orientation programming and/or student onboarding initiatives;
  • Experience organizing and facilitating student wellness initiatives, and/or providing support to any of the following: student clubs, organizations, honor societies, learning communities, and/or student advisory boards;
  • Experience planning and executing small and large-scale in-person and virtual student-facing events, particularly high-visibility, signature events involving multiple stakeholders such as graduation ceremonies;
  • Knowledge of student development theory and understanding of best practices in student well-being and belonging;
  • Knowledge of Commonwealth, University, and CEHD policies and procedures;
  • Familiarity with academic programs, degrees, and certificates offered by CEHD;
  • Ability to collaborate and liaise effectively with stakeholders in the college, and serve as a strong advocate for students with campus partners across the institution; and
  • Commitment to improving CEHD and University systems and policies in support of student retention, well-being, and success.
