About the Department:

The mission of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences' Office of Development is to raise private philanthropic funds in support of students, faculty, departments, programs, and centers within the College. We also explicitly support the efforts of the advancement offices of other colleges and the university as a whole. This is accomplished by building relationships with alumni, friends, parents and students and by soliciting donations, major gifts, planned gifts, and corporate and foundation support. Alumni relations are cultivated and maintained through outreach efforts.

About the Position:

The Development Assistant will provide general administrative support between 10-20 hours per week. The hourly rate is $17-$20, depending on experience and the position is eligible for working from home.

This position will report to Nikki Jerome Ouellette, Director of Alumni and Community Engagement and will be required to meet on a weekly basis to review task list and progress of projects.

Responsibilities:

Administrative tasks to support the Advancement and Alumni Relations team include data entry, recordkeeping, and email management. Projects will include:

  • Scholarships
    • Coordinates the internal process for review and submission to Financial Aid and the Foundation, maintain spreadsheets, and respond timely to inquiries from CHSS units/areas
  • Prospect Management 
    • Reconciles alumni and friends’ data, updating demographic and bio information in the Patriot Force (Salesforce) system. In addition, enter Activity and Strategy notes in Patriot Force on behalf of staff members. Prospect research will be assigned on a regular basis.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma;
  • Effective professional communication and organizational skills;
  • Must be able to work both independently and as a member of the team;
  • Well-organized, self-starter with the ability to follow through with tasks;
  • Attention to detail; and
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite programs.
