About the Department:

The Department of Health Administration and Policy has educated students and conducted research in health systems management, health policy and health informatics since 2010. Today, graduate programs in these areas seek to prepare new leaders to apply management and evidence-based decision making to improve public health and the quality of health care. The distinctive approach to all HAP degree programs is rigorous, innovative, accessible and hands-on.

About the Position:

The Postdoctoral Fellow will work with a multidisciplinary research team from multiple institutions. The position will conduct research on digital health program development evaluation. The expected deliverables are innovative digital health programs, peer-reviewed publications and research grants. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to conduct multiple NIH- and NSF-funded research projects and to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists at multiple universities. The fast-growing department will soon to be named the Department of Health Administration, Policy, and Informatics (HAPI) and hosts two PhD programs in Health Services Research and Health Informatics. The initial appointment is for a minimum of one year and is renewable for up to three years.

Responsibilities:

Data analysis

  • Conducts quantitative and qualitative analyses of data from the trial and evaluation, to examine intervention effects, patient-centered health outcomes, and implementation processes; and
  • Assists with data cleaning, coding, and interpretation to ensure high-quality, reproducible findings. 

Manuscript development 

  • Leads and contributes to the writing of peer-reviewed journal articles, conference abstracts, and technical reports; and
  • Collaborates with the PI and project team to synthesize results, develop conceptual frameworks, and ensure scientific rigor in publications. 

Program development 

  • Supports the iterative design and refinement of the WECARE intervention, including digital platform enhancements, user engagement strategies, and integration of participant feedback; and
  • Works closely with the research teams to optimize intervention content and delivery. 

Project management 

  • Assists with coordination of project activities, timelines, and deliverables to ensure adherence to NIH milestones. This includes:
    • Communication with team members;
    • Organizing study materials;
    • Monitoring progress; and
    • Supporting regulatory compliance (IRB, data security).

Grant writing 

  • Contributes to the development of new grant applications, including literature reviews, preliminary data summaries, and drafting of scientific sections; and
  • Collaborates with the PI in identifying funding opportunities and expanding the WECARE research portfolio. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Terminal degree in a related field;
  • Doctoral training (PhD, MD or equivalent) in public health, health sciences, systems science, health economics, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a closely related field;
  • Experience in clinical trial design and data collection;
  • Record of publications;
  • Advanced quantitative data analysis skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; and
  • Advanced training health sciences and program evaluation.
